Our Practitioner
Dr. Marz Jafari is a practitioner of Five Element Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine with a clinical focus on integrative solutions for whole health living and chronic pain management. Prior to establishing Healthy Roots Medicine (HRM), Dr. Jafari achieved a Doctorate degree in Medicine and spent nearly a decade leading a public health language localization team for a federally funded global biosurviellance study of infectious disease under the auspices of Georgetown University Medical Center.
Today, he is a Maryland board certified and licensed acupuncturist practicing in Montgomery County, Maryland. He began his exploration and study of acupuncture at the prestigious Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), formerly the Tai Sophia Institute, the only institution of its kind on the Eastern seaboard. While at MUIH, Dr. Jafari had the enormous privilege of being mentored by Bob Duggan and Diane Connelly leaders in their fields and visionaries in bringing an acupuncture teaching tradition to the United States. Fueled by the lessons imparted by Bob and Diane and passionate about the possibilities that acupuncture and herbal medicine provides, Dr. Jafari completed his Doctorate of Oriental Medicine.
In addition to his terminal degrees in allopathic and Oriental Medicine, he was also conferred a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from MUIH and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine. When not practicing, Dr. Jafari can be found sharing his passion for art, gardening, and travel with his three children, Pandora, Giulietta, and Oliver.
